INL produces first-ever chloride molten salt fuel for fast reactor

Idaho National Laboratory produced the first-ever chloride-based molten salt fuel for the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE). The 18 kg uranium chloride batch achieved a 95% conversion rate. The MCRE is a collaboration between Southern Company, TerraPower, Core Power and DOE, with maritime reactor deployment as a key application.
